Lords of the Fallen – Ancient Labyrinth

Description

Discover a new campaign in the long-forgotten library, locked away between the human and demonic realms millennia ago.

This was the first project I worked on during my internship at Deck13. After the completion of a test task, where I had to set up a level with given constraints, I proceeded to work on the Ancient Labyrinth DLC. The overall structure of the Ancient Labyrinth was already defined when I joined the project. Still, there were several unfinished things and requirements from the publisher’s side yet to be met.

In the first months my work was more on the concept side of things. I wrote the dummy outline for the story, the structure and dummy content of the conversations, set up and maintained the documents for the level and suggested items, quests and achievements. In the second month my focus shifted to the execution of those concepts which included balancing, creating level logic, implementing the quest tracker for the DLC, realizing the achievements, re-positioning props and a lot of other things which forced me to make little design decisions on a daily basis.

I learned a lot about the (individual) constraints of developing games in a professional environment and had the opportunity to take on responsibility for a project over a considerable period of time.
